Welcome Garrett Wong, Our New Member Services Manager!
We are happy to announce that Garrett Wong will be the Alliance's new Member Services Manager! Check out the interview below to learn more about Garrett and why he is excited to join the Alliance staff.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Garrett: I was born and raised in California’s Silicon Valley and was surrounded and truly supported by a loving family that encouraged me to always be a better person than I was the day before. As I’ve spent most of my adult life in the Phoenix metropolitan area, applying that same mentality to my professional career has helped me create a meaningful impact in the greater community. In college, I adopted new passions for long distance running and competing in marathons along with landscape and nature photography. I also spent all four of my college years with the Sun Devil Marching Band as the loudest (and proudest) alto saxophone member, acting as section leader during my senior year.
What draws you to the sports greening movement?
Garrett: The social influence of sport to activate constructive and sustainable change within our communities is a tool that any sports entity can capitalize on. In bridging the systems thinking mentality of sustainability with the passionate drive of the sports industry, we can create a lasting sustainability legacy and impactful behavioral change for the organizations, partners, and fans.
What made you want to join the Green Sports Alliance staff?
Garrett: Joining the Alliance was the perfect opportunity to be surrounded by a team of like-minded professionals passionate in advancing the sports greening movement. Coupled with my own interests in advancing more sustainable action within the sports industry, I’m excited to work alongside our members to expand and bolster their sustainability programs and initiatives.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
Garrett: I’m an Advanced Certified SCUBA Diver!
